In April 2019 the new test installation for gas pressure regulators from Wigersma & Sikkema was put into operation. The new installation can generate a pressure of 24 bar. This high pressure is needed to test the new innovative RS350S regulator.
The RS350S regulator is designed for PN16, which means that it is suitable for inlet pressures up to 16 bar. Its predecessor, the RS300S, is a PN10 regulator. Due to the higher maximum inlet pressure of 16 bar, the RS350S regulator is not only suitable for the Dutch market where Wigersma & Sikkema has long been the market leader with the RS300S. With the new RS350S regulator, markets outside the Netherlands such as Germany and Belgium can also be served.
The compressor for the new test installation is placed outside in a container. This reduces the noise levels at the workplace. With the PLC controlled test line, the regulators that are built can be tested in accordance with the requirements. Of course, our own PLEXOR inspection system is still used for testing, with which we can guarantee that the regulator meets the (quality) requirements. Each controller is set according to the wishes of the customer so that it can be used immediately by the customer (plug & play).
The container has enough space for an additional compressor, so that a second test line can easily be added in the future. As a result, even with greater market demand, Wigersma & Sikkema will remain able to maintain short delivery times. The new RS350S controller is available in the PN10 version from 1 July 2019, the PN16 version will be available from 1 October 2019. The RS350S controller is certified by the German DVGW just like the RS300S controller.
