UNICOM 300 is a 2G/4G CAT M1 modem and/or data logger, designed for accurate logging and data transfer of gas consumption. It can be connected directly to an electronic volume converter, such as the UNIGAS 300, or directly to a gas meter. The battery powered version meets the requirements of explosion safety for use in zone 0. This allows the UNICOM 300 to be placed in the immediate vicinity of the gas meter. The mains-powered UNICOM 300 must be placed outside the zone and may be connected to equipment placed in zone 0. UNICOM 300 is designed for easy and quick installation and service with a minimum of tools and is very well protected against corrosion by a patented Wigersma & Sikkema solution. The UNICOM 300 can therefore be installed outdoors.
Three counters are available for recording the two pulse inputs and reading the encoder of the gas meter, including automatic initialisation and B telegrams. The gas consumption can be transmitted by two pulse outputs to provide consumption information to the gas consumer. The logger stores its data every five minutes for a period of 155 days. In addition, the UNICOM 300 is equipped as standard with a serial port for readout of a UNIGAS 300 volume converter.
Communication is carried out by the 2G/4G modem with integrated fallback functionality from 4G to 2G. UNICOM 300 supports TCP-pull or FTP-push functionality for communication. A standard external antenna is available, other external antennas can be included and easily mounted if the signal strength is insufficient for the standard antenna.
The UNICOM 300 with mains power supply can be fitted with a back-up battery to maintain logging functionality in the event of a power failure. The back-up battery has sufficient capacity to continue logging counter readings for over 1,000 hours in the event of a power failure.
Special precautions have been taken to ensure a long life for the UNICOM 300 with battery. UNICOM 300 will use the full capacity of the batteries. It is equipped with two intelligent programmable time schedulers, which will power the modem only when needed for external data communication. The internal NTP functions can be set to an NTP server in the APN to automatically synchronise the time. This makes it possible to use UNICOM 300 for push use only, extending the lifetime of the battery operated version beyond 10 years.
On request Wigersma & Sikkema can provide remote service on UNICOM 300 devices already installed in the field. For example, the firmware can be updated to keep the UNICOM 300 up to date during its long lifetime without the need for someone to go to the location where the UNICOM is installed.
Depending on use, it is possible to power the UNICOM 300 with the original set of batteries for the entire 10-year service life. This makes the UNICOM 300 a once to install device and a lifetime without service solution.
